Steps to Using the Tablet

Step 1)

Plug in the USB cord from the tablet to the computer.

Step 2)

Once the tablet has connected, go to wacom.com/start to download updates and everything needed to use your tablet with the computer.

Step 3)

If you're having trouble with the pen, there are extra nibs if you ever need to replace the tip. The pen should work immediately after the tablet powers on; just like the mouse to the computer.

Step 4)

Step 5)

As well as the tablet, the pen and it's buttons are customizable, too.

After testing the tablet to get it to work, you could actually customize it and the buttons to your desired actions in the settings.

Step 6)

After these simple steps, the tablet is ready for use! Enjoy!

Product Review

Wacom Intuos Pro

Since I've been working with CorelDRAW 8 for quite a while with a standard computer mouse, I was curious to see how a tablet would do since I haven't used one before. Here, I will explore the Wacom Intuos Pro tablet and observe how it functions compared to a mouse on CorelDRAW 8.

Drawings done with The Tablet

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

On the first day of using the tablet, I decided to get a feel for it first, so I messed around with the settings --customizing the buttons on the pen that came with the tablet. Since I've been using a mouse for a long time, I understood that getting used to using a tablet would take a while so it was obviously a bit difficult to get started.

On the second day, I decided to hone in on the Artistic Media tools that CorelDRAW 8 provided to create a character. It is not a specific character; I just made him up for the sake of this project so that I could practice using different brushes with the pen. I enjoy how smooth the pen glides across the tablet because I'm usually used to the drawing slowly on the mouse, trying not to accidentally turn and mess up.

As you can tell, by the third day, I started to get the hang of using the tablet and was able to draw more efficiently; even playing around with turning 2-dimensional shapes into 3-dimensional. I also worked with the text tool --applying lighting to it as I went. As you can see, the blending tool worked really well after I blended a square and a star together.

Project #6

On this project, I work with a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet to draw.
