Manga Figure Study #5

Drawing: 5/5

Explanation

I started this drawing knowing that it would would take longer because it has more of Kazuma's body included.

I begin sketching the lower jaw (in which I change multiple times later in order to match his face), then I begin on his suit.

Before I start, I decide whether I should finish the right side of the suit (from your point of view) or begin on the left side. I begin the left side so that I don't end up dragging graphite across the paper.

Throughout the drawing, I had to stretch out the neck tie because I drew it too short in the beginning.

From his body, I begin to branch out the arm based off of where the creases in his suit where located.

Again, his hand surprisingly wasn't too hard to draw; I just had to resize the thumb a few times and had to stretch out the writing on it.

The face was the hardest part of the drawing by far, because I always have troubles with positioning the glasses at a tilted angle and getting the jaw and hair to correspond with that. As you can tell, I had to redraw it quite a few times.

I also had to resize the right shoulder as well to match with the location of the necktie.

As I outlined, I fixed up a few lines that were out of place.

After looking at the completed drawing, I still noticed how I hadn't positioned the jaw correctly after the multiple times that I had redone it, but I was pretty okay with the end result.

Project #3-D

In this project, I redraw various positions of the same person for the fifth and final time.
